Geography in the Region The Devils Lake Region is located in the heart of the Prairie Pothole Region of the U.S. and at the center of the North American Continent. The Northeastern Drfit Plain, consisting of many shallow potholes or lakes scattered among rolling hills, covers the vast majority of the region. Rolla sits at the foothills of the Turtle Mountains, a plateau 2000 feet (600m) above sea level, dotted with timber and numerous lakes.
